Your Privacy Matters

Confidentiality

In a small town, privacy is not just a policy. It is a promise.

I understand the concerns of a small community

One of the most important parts of therapy is knowing you have a place where you can speak honestly and openly without worrying that your personal information will become someone else's conversation.

What you share in therapy is confidential. I do not discuss my clients, their stories, or the details of our work with friends, family members, neighbors, or anyone else outside of the limited situations required by law. Whether your concerns involve relationships, family conflict, anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, work stress, or something you've never told another person, your privacy is treated with the utmost care and respect.

As a therapist, I am bound by both state and federal privacy laws as well as the professional code of ethics that governs my profession. Protecting your confidentiality is not only a personal commitment, it is a legal and ethical responsibility.

Many people tell me things they have never said out loud before. My role is to provide a space where you can do that safely, knowing your story will be protected.

For those who prefer an additional layer of privacy, secure telehealth sessions are available throughout Texas. Many clients appreciate the ability to meet from the comfort of their own home, office, or private space without the need to travel to an office.

There are a few specific situations in which therapists are legally required to break confidentiality, such as concerns about safety or certain forms of abuse. These exceptions are limited and will be discussed in detail before we begin working together.

If you have questions about confidentiality, I welcome them. You deserve to understand exactly how your information is protected before deciding whether therapy is right for you.

How your records are stored

Your clinical notes and personal information are stored securely using HIPAA-compliant electronic health record software. Paper records, if any, are kept in a locked, private location. Only I have access to your file.

If you ever have questions about how your information is handled, please just ask. Transparency is important to me, and I am happy to walk you through anything in plain language.

Have more questions about privacy or how sessions work? I am happy to chat before you commit to anything.
