Individual Therapy for Adults

Individual Therapy for Anxiety

A place to quiet some of the noise, understand what's driving it, and feel a little more steady.

Sometimes your mind just won't let things go.

Anxiety doesn't always look like panic. Sometimes it's replaying a conversation over and over, worrying about something that hasn't happened, needing reassurance that everything is okay, or feeling like your brain is constantly scanning for the next thing that could go wrong.

You may even know logically that you're probably okay — and still not feel okay. Therapy can help you understand what keeps that cycle going and learn ways to respond differently, rather than spending so much energy trying to make every uncomfortable thought or feeling disappear.

What We Can Work On

Sound familiar?

✓Constant worry or overthinking
✓Racing thoughts that are hard to shut off
✓Replaying conversations or situations afterward
✓Feeling like something bad is about to happen
✓Needing reassurance to feel okay
✓Difficulty tolerating uncertainty
✓Perfectionism and fear of getting things wrong
✓Feeling tense, restless, or unable to relax
✓Avoiding things because they make you anxious
✓Anxiety that has increased during perimenopause or menopause

The goal isn't to never feel anxious.

Anxiety is part of being human, and sometimes it's actually trying to protect you. The problem is when your mind starts treating uncertainty, uncomfortable feelings, or everyday situations like problems that have to be solved before you can move forward. Therapy can help you notice those patterns, make room for uncomfortable thoughts and feelings without letting them run the show, and spend more of your energy on the life that actually matters to you.

We may work on things like understanding your anxiety cycle, recognizing patterns of avoidance and reassurance seeking, learning to tolerate uncertainty, responding differently to anxious thoughts, regulating emotions, and reconnecting with what you value rather than organizing your life around what anxiety tells you to avoid.

My approach incorporates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and skills from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) when they fit. The goal isn't to argue with every anxious thought or convince yourself that nothing bad will ever happen. It's learning that you can handle uncertainty, uncomfortable feelings, and the occasional very loud brain without letting them make every decision for you.
